XLarn 10th anniversary and mobile release
For the 10th anniversary we have prepared a small post on the history of XLarns development to share alongside some cool news and small patch notes for the Steam Release of Version 23.
News & Patch Notes
Since the last release we have been hard at work to finally bring one of our earliest ideas for XLarn to fruition the MOBILE VERSION for iOS and Android.
From now on further updates will be released on all platforms at the same time.
We don’t have a lot of new content for the Steam version this time except a few new achivements but we are working on modernizing the game further and rebalancing parts of it. Furthermore, we have been working on a wiki page for some time, which will also be published in the near future.

History of XLarn
Development on the mobile version started even before the Steam release in 2015 in a time where XLarn was slowly turning from our fathers hobby project into an idea to release it on the AppStore. Back then even with no prior practical experience in mobile game development there was a working prototype after a few months of development.
When the idea and the realistic chance for a Steam release came around a few years later in the form of Steam Greenlight we shelved the mobile prototype and AppStore version to go for a full multiplatform PC release with full priority instead.
Now more than 10 years later (how time flies…) on the 10th anniversary of our Steam release are happy to finally announce one of the first ideas ever for the game a fully working mobile version released for Android and iOS phones and tablets.
To show you the development of the game over the past years, we prepared some screenshots from previous versions, some of which go back almost two decades.
Here you can see an older version of XLarn. The version my brother and I started to play as children. The village all black, way less detail and in lesser quality. And using the standard Windows GUI.
The first tries of getting the game running on mobile devices. This version was never published. It looks less detailed and most of the pictures are updated by now.
We hope you enjoyed this little post about our development history. If you have any questions you can always reach us at [email protected] or on the steam discussion board.
